it was great to have the WHOLE bunch there!
We hosted our First Family over for brunch and cookie decorating and
had the best time celebrating the season with close friends!
Whew!  As wonderful and joyous the entire December month was, I'm enjoying the slower pace of January and getting the kids back into their routines!  I enjoyed every visit with family and close friends, shared meals, and LOTS of Christmas festivities; I'll let the pictures do the talking!
January started out with making an old tradition a new tradition with our family; I cooked a traditional New Years Day meal: cabbage, black eyed peas, cornbread, and brisket (had to add that in for my meat- lov'in boys)!  I didn't think my crew would go for this but they actually really liked it... I just emphasized that the cabbage had butter on it... deal sealed! :)  On the 2nd we took Abbey to the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular along with my Mom, Dad, and brother; the show is AMAZING and if it is ever in your area, GO!  Nothing compared to watching Abbey's face during the show, she was in complete awe and delight.
January 6th was a special day for Chad and I as we celebrated 8 years of marriage!!!  With it falling on a weekday we decided to celebrate this weekend and we are SO looking forward to a romantic dinner out!  We did take the day to reminisce and we called each other off and on that day... "What do you think we were doing 8 years ago at this time?"  It was fun traveling down memory lane and seeing how good and faithful the Lord has been to each of us and mightily in our marriage.  I would say that most of us are pretty selfish when we first get married, I know Chad and I were, and the uprooting of that selfishness is a lifelong process but it's truly amazing to see how God has grown us individually and together for HIS greater purposes.  I'm learning more and more all the time how deep God's love is for me; He wants to give His children good gifts and when He gave me Chad, He outpoured His love on me and gave me an indescribably good gift!
Lastly, and really changing gears here, Cole injured his foot last night and we're not really sure how he did it going up 2 stairs.  Regardless, it's injured after seeing x-rays in the E.R. and we'll be going in to see an orthopedic Dr. in the next 2 days for further x-rays to make sure he hasn't fractured it where the growth plates are; it's hard to tell from the initial results.  Please pray for our little man, right now we've got him in a foot splint which is super hard to keep on an active 2 yr. old!  We're praying that it's simply a sprain and nothing more serious; we would definitely appreciate your prayers!
